Biography

Evelyn Vera Gallardo, born in 1997 in Amsterdam, is a pianist, arranger, and composer. She began playing the piano at the age of 7 and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Latin Piano from the Conservatory of Rotterdam (Codarts). Evelyn Vera Gallardo is a versatile pianist, arranger, and composer who primarily applies her musical talents within the realms of world music and Latin jazz. With a strong background in musical education and stage experience, she has developed into a prominent figure in her genre. Evelyn’s Cum Laude achievement at Codarts underscores her exceptional musicality and dedication to her craft.
 

Her career took off in 2019 with the release of the album Xplora, a collaborative project with an Aruban band named Krosshart. This album marked the beginning of Evelyn’s journey through Latin jazz, where she introduced her unique style and interpretations of traditional rhythms and melodies to a broader audience.
 

In 2021, she released her second album, Crossing Roads, with the band Trico. This project once again showcased her versatility, bringing together influences from various cultures, including flamenco, jazz, and Ottoman music, into a dynamic blend of sounds. Two years later, in 2023, Evelyn collaborated with Venezuelan percussionist Gerardo Rosales on the album La Vintage. This album interwove the rich musical traditions of salsa with her own Latin jazz style.
 

Another milestone in her career came in 2024 with the release of Maite Hontele's NJJO Goes Mambo, an album she recorded with renowned trumpeter Maite Hontele and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. This project offered a fresh and energetic interpretation of the mambo genre and highlighted Evelyn’s ability to collaborate with diverse musicians.
 

In addition to her work as a pianist and composer in the world music and Latin jazz scene, Evelyn has also made a name for herself in the musical theater world. She has performed as a pianist in successful productions such as Tina Turner the Musical, Grease, and Jesus Christ Superstar. In the near future, she will also contribute her talents to the productions of Moulin Rouge, Elisabeth, and Soldaat van Oranje.
